Local is lekker – we strive to incorporate locally grown ingredients wherever possible and utilise local products and suppliers in all aspects of our business, from grain to glass.

BrackenHill Craft Distillery is working with a community that resides on a farm that has been incorporated into the eMakhosini Heritage Park near Ulundi in KwaZulu-Natal.

In addition to growing our umsuzwane, they have sourced traditional heirloom Zulu Rainbow Maize seeds as well as sorghum and planted the first crop in 2018. Most of this crop has been used as seed for the 2019 planting season to expand the lands under cultivation with the aim of supplying these traditional varieties of grains to the distillery for our fermentations
